This beautiful location is remote and peaceful, perfect for a yoga retreat with an adventurous twist. With two experienced yoga teachers in yoga traditions and styles ranging from Iyengar, Tibetan Heart Yoga, and vinyasa flow, we offer you the chance to deepen and diversify your practice. We also have the opportunity to visit and volunteer a few afternoons at an environmental education center, Sunseed Desert Technology, working in the gardens or building rock terrace walls. Included are full room and board, all ground transportation, all excursions and classes. Rock climbing is $45 per person for the afternoon with a wonderful local guide, Graham. This retreat is limited to 13 participants.
We will be living 5 km from the small, picturesque village of Lucainena, Andalucia, at a hand-built adobe inn and retreat center, Cortijo El Saltador. The yoga studio emanates serenity, with white adobe walls, hardwood floors, and a tree growing through one end of the room. El Saltador is surrounded by rugged mountains and open land in a desert climate perfect for strolls or long tramps. It is only 30 minutes from the Mediterranean Sea which will be at its warmest in September, while the air temperature will have cooled down to a comfortable range of 70-80 deg F high during the day, 50’s at night (www.elsaltador.com for more information on the center and surroundings).

This rugged region of southern Spain is like stepping back in time over 700 years to when the Moors of North Africa occupied the area. We will walk along ancient footpaths of the southern Sierra Nevada mountains, staying hostels and hotels where we’ll eat like kings vegetarian cuisine with Mediterranean, Middle East, and French origins. And of course, we’ll start and end each day with yoga, connecting our feet to the earth.. After trekking, we’ll enjoy Granada, a small, beautiful city with Bohemian and Moorish roots nestled against the Sierra Nevadas. Included are all transportation once we arrive in Almeria, all lodging, and every meal except when in Granada.
June 20 - 24 Trekking through villages and mountains, with daily yoga; all meals and lodging included
The afternoon of June 23 we shuttle to Granada, Spain (1 hr)
June 25 We spend a full day soaking up Granada, and resting our muscles, exploring the Alhambra, a Moorish castle built a millenium ago, and eating as much good food as possible!
June 26 Depart for Home, until the next time we meet…
